CARS+ 2004 Convention...
Standards in Action... Practical Solutions was the focus of the 23rd annual CARS+ Convention held at the Wyndham Hotel in lovely Palm Springs. This resort hotel was the place to be on a sunny warm February weekend! Attendees were honored with a visit from State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Jack O'Connell who shared his vision in the area of high school reform for all students. Keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Lavoie was again and inspiration to all as he shared how to charge the batteries of the unmotivated student. Dr. Alice Parker, Assistant Superintendent, and State Director of Special Education again provided in-depth information on important special education issues in her workshop, "Current Special Education Issues in California." This tremendously successful convention had to close registration early due to the capacity crowd of over 750 attendees!
