This year's theme, "Riding the Wave of Change, Charting a New Course," focuses on the changing face of Special and General Education. In an effort to guarantee the provisions of "No Child Left Behind" and "IDEIA 2004," provide a Free Appropriate Public Education, and close the Achievement Gap for all students, these changes center around delivering services and providing interventions in the least restrictive environment, preferably in the General Education environment. This can happen through the effective use of combined resources (General Education Teachers, Special Educators, Related Services Providers, etc.) and intervening early and frequently. Many promising practices will be introduced with a state and national perspective. Many sessions highlight programs that are already in place and working successfully.
