Interest Grows in Getting Involved
Fresno/Reedley
- Members in the Fresno/Reedley area have
expressed interest in reviving their local chapter. Plans are in
the works now for setting up an informational meeting.

- Members in the Kern County and Bakersfield area have also
expressed interest in reviving their local chapter.

NEW CHAPTER FORMING!!
- On September 3, the members in the Stanislaus/Turlock and
surrounding areas held an informational meeting to discuss
forming a local chapter. This meeting, held at the Turlock IHOP,
was well received, with approximately 20 in attendance. A
PowerPoint detailing what CARS+ is all about was presented by
Region 2 Director, Chris Walkowiak. Karen Womack, Sequoia CARS+
Chapter President (Visalia/Tulare area) presented sample meeting
agendas and discussed her local chapter’s involvement.
- Tina Winrow, Assistant Region 2 Director and Linda Nimer,
CARS+ President fielded questions from attendees.
- A HUGE thank you to Carol Fairbairn and Norlissa Clark for
their efforts in setting up this initial meeting.

CURRENT CHAPTER GROWING STRONG!!
Sequoia CARS+ Tulare County
- Sequoia CARS+ is active and growing strong! Their board met
September 9 to finalize the meeting topics for the coming
year.Sequoia’s first meeting is scheduled for September 30 at
Ryan’s Restaurant on Mooney Blvd. in Visalia at 4:30 pm. Topic
will be “Guest Who’s Coming for Dinner.” You are encouraged to
bring a friend with you. There will be door prizes.
- Additional proposed topics for this year's meetings include:
Instructional Aide's appreciation dinner, Linda Nimer (State
CARS+ President) discussing CARS+ involvement at the state
level, Behavior in the Classroom, IEP concerns, Membership

SET SAIL ON THE REGION 2 EVENT CRUISE!!
- What could be better than combining learning while
vacationing? Join your friends, colleagues, and CARS+ family on
a relaxing cruise over Christmas vacation! Set sail from Long
Beach, enjoy the ports of Catalina and Ensenada, Mexico.
- Ship sails from Long Beach on January 5 and return on
January 9. Itinerary is as follows:
Jan 5 -- depart Long Beach
Jan 6 -- Catalina Island
Jan 7 -- Ensenada
Jan 8 -- Day at Sea (attend a workshop on Classroom Behavior
Management presented by:)
Jan 9 -- dock at Long Beach
- Costs are: (double occupancy)
$325 for inside cabin
$375 for outside cabin
- We need to know how many members (and family) are interested
in joining us as soon as possible. For more details: Please

there is a children's and teen's program on board the ship.
